How do you get the balance right?

I will admit that my house is a mess.
Yes, I do have 3 young children and 2 dogs but there is mess everywhere. Even in places where the children don't even go!
I read other peoples blogs to see what they've made or been doing and I'll come across a photo of their beautiful home, and its all shiny and clean!
Now maybe they just rammed everything into a cupboard to take the photo or maybe they actually have a tidy home.
So how do you all do it?
How do manage the balance of looking after young children with crafts, blog updating and having a tidy home?
Answers on a postcard please!

Sorry, can't help. My house is a mess too. I can usually put up with it for a while and then I will go on a big cleaning rampage, but no sooner do I pick toys up from the floor and vacuum then the kids have made another mess. I figure I'll have a clean house when the kids are older LOL

I have a cleaning lady that takes care of the house. I only take care of the kids and crafting...
Maybe I should think about a nanny...LOL

You are not alone in this - I think it comes with the territory when you have kids, but we were messy pre-children too! I like the saying "Cleaning the house while kids are growing is like shovelling snow when it's still snowing"!! Like everything else in life, do what's right for you and don't worry about everyone else. Life's too short for housework - but I sure wouldn't say no to a cleaning lady! :)

pmsl. My house is never ever tidy. Any pictures I take are taken in one small unmessy (for that 5 minutes) corner!!

Thanks for for comments.
I think the shovelling snow comment is particularly true! I can apply that to washing too.

I wish we could have a cleaner.
Oh how nice that would be.

those folks with immaculate houses are lying - it's a trick. What they do is go and visit a child free friend and take pics. I'm sure of it ;)

As far as I'm concerned, the simple answer to your question is "I don't"!!!! We live in a constant chaotic mess!

One day I might have a clean home, the next I am a great mom and another I am a crafting whiz... I have those same feelings as you quite often!!!

My home is super messy and the table is ALWAYS covered with craft projects (kid and adults). If someone visits they know this is how we live and I still get comments on how on earth do I do it all. I want to shake my head and say, "have you seen my house lately?" I think what frustrates me the most is my hubbies lack of help. I have to do EVERYTHING...all outside work, all repairs, all the phone calls, paying bills, all indoor housework, taking care of the vehicles, etc... It gets very tiring for me when I see the neighbors hubby outside mowing the lawn or cleaning out the garage. How I wish my hubby would do that for us. I know someday my kids will be grown and the house will than get my attention but for now my kids are the most important. The only real thing I stress with my kids is teaching them how to be organized and keeping things clean so they don't end up being clutters as adults for life.

Chloe, have you seen my 'On my desk Wednesday' set?? Um the photos are the whole reason I quit the meme. Got tired of photographing mess and not having the time to straighten up...

My house is a mess! But we have fun crafting, blogging and swapping!!! A clean house is over rated!!! It means you spent all your time cleaning and didn't have any fun! Of course I say that as I am desperately trying to clean my house before my in laws arrive for the week! Off to clean now.
